We shot a wedding this weekend that was at Seacrets in Ocean City and wow did we dodge a bullet. We missed a major storm by a matter of less than 5 minutes. If we had stayed outside more than 5 minutes longer, we would have been soaking wet.

This made me remember to give all you beach brides a word of advice. No matter what your bridal consultant tells you, no matter what your outdoor venue planner tells you, ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP PLAN. Fortunately, we had rain gear for our cameras so the only thing that would have gotten soaked was us, the bride & groom, the whole wedding party and all the guests.

Also, something else to think about for you people that think getting married on the beach is beautiful and romantic. While that is true, getting to that location can be treacherous — especially for elderly guests. If you’re planning a true “beach” wedding, make sure you take into account any older guests and have a plan for assisting them onto and off the beach.
